A few hours later, I went to check on them and 4 is now the new 3.... the pen is all enclosed so the dog couldn't get in, the cat is too lazy to be bothered so all I can think is maybe a bird came and snatched one of them up :( Bastard! I've closed their little house now so nothing can get in and the girls will just have to be happy in there until they get a bit bigger.
Without having a mother hen to show them the ropes, I took it upon myself to show them how to get back up to where their bed is. This meant puttining their food up there and crawling into the house to guide them up the little ramp. Hilarious!
As for babies in the ground...
I've just put 6 types of chilli seedlings in and am looking forward to bumper crops all round. There are still 4 types to go but I'll wait until they're strong enough.
Now for a bit of companion planting.... this season there will be a couple of different types of lettuce growing in between the chilli plants. Better get them in now before the rains start up again.
6 types of chilli:
Chinese Giant Capsicum (not a chilli but a pepper none the less)
Goat Horn Chilli
